The Visit from Death by Adolph von Menzel. Watercolor, 1844. 



The blog where I found this image describes the figure of death as a "humble professional," and I honestly adore this notion. I've listed the link below to the article. It's a decent quick read about the art and artist. Death is depicted as not malicious, merely doing his job. There is a melancholy humor to this notion, as Death politely removes his shoes before his call.
