The work was made during my 2022-2023 artist residency with Michelin starred Counter in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The paintings depict a sprawling landscape in harmony with itself. The moon, on the left panel, watches over the land, and the sun, on the right panel, watches over the moon. This world represents our internal self. The river carries the emotional experiences, ushered in by the senses and processed by intuition in the middle-foreground. On the left, gathered by the fire, is the self, inner child and death. On the right, those gathered at the fire represent community. The goldfinches are the messengers. Throughout the landscape are so many captivating elements which are only inhanced in person. They are quite the experience.
The archival sealed wood panel is mounted to hang with French cleats.
