Birth of Creation

New installation, work-in-progress, titled, ‘The Birth of Creation.’

The bleeding bush has been reoccurring in my oil paintings about 6 years now. A symbol of our connection to Mother Earth, to humanity and, the act of creation. The largest appeared in my 8 foot by 11 foot oil on canvas mural, ‘On Fertile Ground,’ with a group of them visible in the distance, birthing a new landscape. Since that painting, I have dreamed of 3-dimensional sculptures, suspended amidst the trees.

Like my painted versions no two are exactly alike; each one is unique, while using the same general materials. This is a transportable sculpture installation, made with environmentally safe materials. Materials include: chicken wire, recycled materials, cement plaster, preserved moss, natural fiber fishing line, red (non-plastic) beads.

I am starting with the one, suspended (with potential to be free standing). As I further develop the installation, I hope to also install a group of them together, and expand on the symbolic language in the 3-D.
